Book 9: Galatians

By the command of Allah, Hozrot Isa al-Mosi’s Companion Hozrot Paulus (r.a.) wrote this book in the form of a letter. It was written approximately 16 years after Hozrot Isa went to heaven. Hozrot Paulus had gone to Galatia (present-day Turkey) and preached that salvation may be obtained only by believing in Hozrot Isa. But after he left that region some Jewish teachers came and said that it is not enough just to believe in Hozrot Isa to receive salvation, but that Prophet Musa’s (pbuh) Law must also be obeyed in accordance with the Jewish religion. Hozrot Paulus wrote this message to save the jamaat in Galatia from the hypocrisy of their false teaching.

He explains that salvation is obtained only if one believes in Allah’s promised al-Mosi; practising Musa’s Law is not necessary for salvation, but the result of receiving salvation is living in accordance with the commands and injunctions of the Law.

There were no good relations between the Jews and other peoples of that era. The Jews used to think that they alone were Allah’s beloved people, and all the rest of the world’s people were irreligious and wicked. But Hozrot Paulus says, no, whether Jew or other people, all are wicked, absolutely no-one has the ability to follow the Law completely, and so everyone is accursed. Therefore apart from Isa al-Mosi there is no way of receiving salvation.
